The annual competition informs people about eye health and helps raise money for Prevent Blindness Virginia. It's sponsored by Wesley-Jessen, a maker of disposable contact lenses, Sears Portrait Studios, Kroger Food Stores/Kroger Pharmacies and The Virginia Eye Institute.
The contest is taking place during February and March and is open to all state residents. Its three categories are: adult males, adults women and children (16 years and younger).
The entries will be judged on the beauty and overall appearance of the eyes, including clarity and symmetry. The state winner will compete for the national title, Most Beautiful Eyes in America. Nine winners in the state will be selected to receive merchandise awards.
Entry forms are available at Kroger stores, the Virginia Eye Institute, Sears Portrait Studios or by calling Prevent Blindness Virginia at (804) 355-0773. Entrants should send an un-retouched photo of their eyes and a $10 donation to Prevent Blindness Virginia.
