HOW DO FAMILIES COPE WITH ILLNESS?

Families with children who have chronic medical conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis or cerebral palsy, can learn strategies to help them cope in a project sponsored by Virginia Tech's psychology department.

Researchers in the department are evaluating a family-based intervention program that tries to promote a family's adjustment to the child's condition. In the program, families will learn communication strategies to help them cope.

Families that want to learn more or participate in the free research project can call 231-7709 and leave a message for Katie Miller or Jack Finney.
