ROCK WORK CLOSES PARKWAY SECTION

A loose rock overhang will be cleared from a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway, closing the road from its intersection with U.S. 460 to just south of the Peaks of Otter.

Crews paving that section of road noticed the overhang, said Ina Parr of the National Park Service. The rocks will be cleared before time and weather loosen them and cause a rock slide.

Weather permitting, the work is expected to take two weeks. The section will be open to traffic on the weekends.
