PULASKI - The Old Pulaski County Courthouse is now open for self-guided tours on the first Saturday of each month from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., starting Saturday.
A volunteer guide will be available to answer questions.
Groups wishing to schedule special tours at other times can call 980-7845 two weeks in advance of the desired tour date, with the name and telephone number of the person in charge of the group and the expected number of participants.
Exhibits in the main corridor on Pulaski County's heritage include a display case of artifacts and wall displays on courthouses, people, railroads and mining. The New River Room displays the area history of American Indians, early settlers and the background on Claytor Dam, Claytor Lake State Park and the New River Trail State Park.
New River geology is displayed outside the New River Room, with framed rock and fossil inlays along the staircase between the first and second floors. A natural history exhibit is located in the second floor lobby.
Videotapes on the courthouse fire and restoration and another on the American Indian exhibit are available for viewing.
Exhibit in Pulaski
PULASKI - Paintings by an Abingdon artist, dominated by an interplay of light and shadow, will be featured during March at the Casimir Company gallery at 69 W. Main St.
Artist Richard Pejeau and his wife, Andrea, will visit the gallery Sunday.
Pejeau observed and studied light while growing up near the Great Lakes, while earning a bachelor of fine arts with honors in painting from Ohio University, while teaching art in Maine and Saint Croix, and while living on the plains of Texas near Dallas and Fort Worth.
The show is titled ``Architectural Oils.''
