TALBOT FUND AT $27,500

Donations to the Richard B. Talbot Scholarship Fund at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine have reached $27,500.

Talbot, the founding dean of the college, died in the crash of USAir Flight 427 near Pittsburgh last September.

The first recipient of the Richard B. Talbot Medal and a $1,000 cash award will be announced at the college's commencement on May 12. The award will recognize the veterinary student who graduates with the highest record of academic achievement.

Money from the Talbot fund will provide some form of scholarship to graduate students in the field of veterinary information, in recognition of Talbot's work linking veterinary medicine and computers.
