BEDFORD SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR CITY COUNCIL

The Bedford City Council is seeking applicants for the vacancy created by the death of Councilman Payton Otey.

Otey, serving his second full term on the council, died last week at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg. He was 73.

Interested Bedford residents should contact Mayor G. Michael Shelton at P.O. Box 807, Bedford 24523, or call 586-7101. The deadline to contact Shelton is March 17, and all names being considered will be kept confidential until after that date, according to a news release.

Interviews with candidates are scheduled for the week of March 20, with an appointment to be made before March 31. The term will expire June 30, 1998.
