The rally, at 7:30 p.m., and march, at 8 p.m., protest violence against women and the attitudes that foster that violence.

Participants can bring candles and percussion instruments. Women, men, children and groups are welcome.

Speakers and musicians will highlight the rally. The march will close with a song at the Drill Field. The rain location is Colonial Hall in Squires Student Center.

Design assistance

PULASKI - Students from Virginia Tech's Community Design Assistance Center will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday to get information on the history of the Draper Mountain overlook on U.S. 11.

The students hope to get information pertaining about the site and what has happened to it over its 60-year existence.

The overlook has been closed in recent years, due to people trashing the site and other problems. But a group of citizens is working toward re-opening it.

Terri Gregory, with the Pulaski County Office of Community Relations, has suggested that different agencies and organizations choose a different part of the overlook, such as its amphitheater, picnic shelters and trails, and take the responsibility for re-establishing them. Further information on the meeting is available by calling Gregory at 980-7797.

``To make this entire project really work, the citizens of Pulaski County must continue to play an active part in its success,'' she said. ``Please make every effort to attend this meeting.''
