GATEWAY CHRISTIAN RALLIES TO 75-65 CONSOLATION WIN

Gateway Christian Acadamy outscored Victory Christian 26-14 in the third quarter to erase a 10-point deficit and win 75-65 in the consolation round of the MEERACS national tournament on Friday.

Trailing 32-28 at halftime, Gateway used a pressing defense in the second half to take the lead.

The Crusaders' balanced attack was led by Ryan Gordon's 19 points and14 rebounds, and Aaron Meadows' 17 points. Monty Pence scored 14 and had seven assists, and Allan Surface had 13 points, and Jay Perfater 11 for Gateway (13-6).

Victory Christian (5-9) was led by Josh Heddings' game-high 38 points, and Josh Levesque and James Henderson each added 10.

Gateway plays Mount Carmel today at 10:30 a.m. in the final round of the tournament.
