POLICE CHASE GILES MAN HOME

A man led Blacksburg police on a high-speed chase Sunday morning that ended when he crashed in his own Giles County front yard.

The chase started just before 1 a.m. on westbound U.S. 460 in Blacksburg because the suspect was driving recklessly, according to a Blacksburg police news release. Police pursued the vehicle at speeds sometimes exceeding 100 mph into Giles County.

The driver crashed in the yard of a house on Virginia 703 and fled on foot into the house, the release said. He was arrested minutes later by Blacksburg police and Giles County Sheriff's deputies.

The release said Clarence Duke Reynolds III, who lives in the house where the pursued vehicle crashed, was charged with reckless driving, attempting to elude police, and driving on a suspended license.

No one was injured in the incident.
