OLYMPICS VOLUNTEERS

The Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking volunteers for Virginia's 1995 Golden Olympics. The event will be held May 31-June 4 at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg.

Seniors 55 and older may participate in the sporting events, which range from co-ed volleyball to swimming, golf to 5K cycling, croquet to a 5K race. There's also billiards, basketball, bridge, riflery, bowling, fish casting, checkers, badminton, track and field events, archery and jump rope competitions and other events.

Volunteers are also needed in supportive roles.

The Olympics, begun in 1979, united more than 600 senior citizens from across the commonwealth. Winners from the state advance to the national Golden Olympics competition.
