A hearing is required before the loan, from Rural Economic & Community Development, formerly the Farmers Home Administration, can be approved.
In addition to the loan, the town will pay $518,343 toward the sewer replacement work and another $209,750 would come from Pulaski County where the town provides service beyond the corporate limits.
The town is continuing to look into where sewer lines have deteriorated.
Council and administrative staff representatives have also met with officials from Magnox Inc. to discuss that company's future sewer needs.
In other business, council is scheduled to get a report on the Raymond F. Ratcliff Museum housed at the town-owned Pulaski Train Station, and to consider a vision statement for the town.
