ABDUCTION, RAPE CHARGES FILED

A Southwest Roanoke County man was charged with raping and abducting a woman who police say he had taken out on a date. The victim, described as in her 30s, is from the Roanoke Valley.

Monday, Roanoke County police arrested Charles Fochtman, 41, and accused him of taking the woman back to his apartment and raping her early Sunday. He is also charged with sodomy and assault and battery. He was released from Roanoke County Jail on bond Monday, according to a sheriff's deputy.
