INDICTMENT ALLEGES POT SALES

A man accused of the marijuana sale that led authorities to a Roanoke County growing operation was indicted Monday by a Botetourt County grand jury.

Alfred Nathaniel Sink, 37, is charged with selling an ounce of pot to an undercover police officer on three occasions last fall.

Police raided Sink's residence in November and recovered about a pound of marijuana, Botetourt County Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Hagan said.

Sheriff's offices and police departments throughout the Roanoke Valley made subsequent raids.

In December, police searched two Roanoke Valley homes. One belonged to Victor Layman, a real estate agent, and the other to Majid Khoshghad

Police found 750 marijuana plants growing in Khoshghad basement. They placed the street value at $5 million. Federal agents seized over $50,000 from Layman's bank account in January.

The drug operation is the target of an ongoing federal grand jury investigation.
