The Board of Supervisors called off the special meeting so its members may attend a viewing for former Floyd County Sheriff Paul Sutphin, the late father of County Administrator Betty Thomas.
Because of the cancellation, and a nine-day delay in releasing the budget proposal last month, the board also is considering pushing back a public hearing on the $75.8 million spending plan. For now, it's scheduled for March 22 at Christiansburg High School.
The board holds its next regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, and the budget discussions may come up then. The board has three other budget work sessions scheduled, all beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the third floor of the Montgomery County Courthouse in Christiansburg. They will be held Tuesday, March 15 and March 20.
