Bone marrow transplant benefit

WILLIS - A benefit will be held Saturday to support Floyd County resident Ann Miller, who is scheduled to receive a bone marrow transplant next month.

The community plans a ham supper from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Willis Elementary School for Miller, who suffers from leukemia and needs a transplant.

After a worldwide donor search that lasted for several months, Miller recently learned a bone marrow match had been found in Norway.

Miller will have the procedure done in Seattle, and must remain there for about five months. Her operation there will be covered by medical insurance but most of the living expenses for Miller and her 2-year-old son will not.

Miller, 30, works as a secretary in Radford University's Recreation and Leisure Department.
