WOMAN ROBS PULASKI MAN, 71|

A 71-year-old Pulaski man was robbed of $60 Monday afternoon by a woman who demanded he give her a ride.

The man had been shopping at the Wades Supermarket on Commerce Street and was approached in the parking lot by a young woman who asked for a ride to Pulaski Furniture, said Vanessa Hill, a Police Department spokeswoman.

The man told her he wasn't going in that direction but would drive her as far as he was going. But once the woman was in the car, she said she didn't want to go to the furniture factory and ordered the man to drive in several different directions.

The woman asked the man for $30, Hill said, and he told her he didn't have it. He was forced to stop the car and the woman grabbed his car keys.

The man told police the woman threatened him by saying, "If you don't give me your pocketbook, I'll kill you."

The man, unsure if the woman was armed, gave her $60 and she left the car and walked away, Hill said.

The incident began at about 4:15 p.m. Anyone with information about the robbery may call the Pulaski Police Department at 980-1221.
