DENT, Lawrence E., 46, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, March 7, 1995. Mr. Dent was preceded in death by his father Claude (Pop) Dent Sr. He is survived by his wife, Lillian I. Dent; a son, Lawrence Dent Jr.; mother, Lula Mitchell Dent; stepson Kenneth Helton; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Helton and Kimberly Lynn Hodges; a brother C. A. FINNEY, Alice Franklin, 80, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Finney and a son, David L. Franklin. Surviving are her sister, Eunice T. Barton, Troutville; brother, Edward Thomas, Roanoke; daughter-in-law, Gladys W. Franklin, Troutville; stepdaugther, Joan Markham, Floyd County. FISHER, Hazel Dixon, 85, of 25 Almetta Avenue, Christiansburg, died Monday night, March 6, 1995 at her home. She was a special person whose love and kindness will be sadly missed. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas R. Fisher. She is loved and survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Pat Omms, Shirley and Al Edwards, Christiansburg; three grandchildren, Kim Ooms, Odenton, Md., Julie Edwards DiDonato, Severna Park, Md., Billy Edwards, Richmond, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Robbie DiDonato and Ashleigh Hopson; several nieces, nephews and special friends. GRAYBILL, Willie Emory 70, of Vinton, passed away suddenly Tuesday, March 7, 1995. He served with the U. S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Gracie May Cornett Graybill; three sons, Willie E. Graybill Jr., Fitzgerald, Ga., Marvin Patrick Graybill, Roanoke, Tommy Lee Wiley, Roanoke; two daughters, Linda Darlene Weeks, Goodview, Jacqueline Marie Ferguson, Roanoke; one sister Lois Graybill Helfrich, Roanoke; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; also several aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins. GUZZI, Joseph John, 85, of Radford, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 1995, at Radford Community Hospital. He was a member of St. Judes Catholic Church in Radford, and was a retired electrician. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph R. and Patricia Guzzi of South Bend, Ind.; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol M. and Robert Bobzin of Radford; brother, John Guzzi of Little Rock, Ark.; sister, Sophia Bieschke of Itasca, Ill; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. A prayer service will be held Thursday, March 9, 1995, at 7 p.m. at St. Judes Catholic Church in Radford with Father Tom Magri officiating. HALE, Charles E. (""Shine""), 80 of Floyd, passed away Monday, March 6, 1995, at Skyline Manor Nursing Home. He was formerly of Bent Mountain, and was a farmer most of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Pruitt Hale, and one son, James Hale, son-in-law, Jessie Conner Sr., four grandsons, Sidney and Charles Nichols, Jimmy and Woody Conner. HOPKINS, Elinor Frank of Lynchburg died Wednesday, March 8, 1995, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. Born in Hot Springs, Virginia in 1901, she was the granddaughter of the late Dr. Benjamin Frank Hopkins and the daughter of the late Dr. Frank and Nancy Read Hopkins, all of Hot Springs; two brothers, Dr. Frank Read Hopkins and Bierne Hopkins, preceded Miss Hopkins in death. Miss Hopkins was educated at Stuart Hall and at St. Mary's Hall after which she studied at the Parson School of Design in New York and Paris, at the Maryland Institute of Costume Design, at Academie de la cluse in Paris, in Toronto with her cousin, Daisey Startelle, a portrait painter. She then spent 6 years in New York painting before returning to live in Hot Springs in the early 1930's and continued to paint until her recent illness. In recent years she studied with Mr. Isung Ju at the Art Farm in Lexington, Va. Miss Hopkins was a member of the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors and her work has been shown extensively. In 1930 she won the Association's Medal for flower painting and continued to produce flower, landscape and abstract paintings in both oil and watercolor. In 1967 Miss Hopkins founded the Bath County Art Show, which is considered to be the best nonjuried regional art show. In addition to artistic interests, Miss Hopkins was an avid gardener and a member of the Warm Springs Valley Garden Club for many years, a member of the Bath County Historical Society, taught art classes in Covington and Hot Springs, a communicant of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and a member of the Lynchburg Art Club. During the internment of the Japanese Diplomatic Corps. at the Homestead in late 1941 and early 1942 and during the International Food Conference, held later, Miss Hopkins organized programs for the entertainment of the troops assigned as guards and was an active member of many community efforts. Friends of Miss Hopkins are invited to call between 4 and 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 1995 at 2940 Rivermont Avenue. A service for Miss Hopkins will be held at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Hot Springs on Friday, March 10, 1995. Memorials may be made to the Bath County Library, Warm Springs, Virginia. Diuguid Funeral Service of Lynchbrug is charge of arrangements.

HUFF, Luther Roy (``Red""), 75, of Salem, died Monday, March 6, 1995. He was an army veteran of World War II and recipient of the Bronze Star. Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Owens, Roanoke, Bonnie Brush, Salem and Patricia Simms, Lexington, N.C.; a son, William B. Huff, Salem; two sisters, Ann Painter, Roanoke and Beulah Helms, Salem; five grandchildren, James Franklin Owens, Eva Gay Dickerson, Danyel Brugh, Paige Brugh and Michelle Nichole Simms; four great-grandchildren, Brandy Lee Owens, Taylor Glenn Owens, Shay Alyssa Dickerson and Roland Dean Dickerson. LONKER, Robert Gene, (``Bob""), 60, of Omar, W. Va., died Tuesday, March 7, 1995 at CAMC General Division in Charleston, W. Va. Born April 23, 1934, he was the son of the late Mike L. Lonker Sr. and Ruby Ragle Lonker. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a brother, Mike L. Lonker Jr. He retired as principal at Logan High School in 1994, was a member of Nighbert United Memorial Methodist Church, and served as a Military Policeman in England. He graduated from Pineville High School, had a B.S. Degree from Concord College, a M.A. Degree from Marshall University, was a member of L.C.E.A, W.V.E.A, W.Va. Secondary Principal's Association, Logan County Secondary Principal's Association, President-Elect of W.Va. Secondary Principal's Association, and various civic organizations. He was a former coach, teach and administrator in N.C.,. Va., and W.Va. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Mayo Lonker of Omar, W.Va.; his mother, Ruby Ragle of Sarah Ann, W.Va.; a son, Rick Lonker of Sarah Ann, W.Va.; a daughter, Joanna Lonker of Roanoke; a sister, Patricia A. Ward of Hilliard, Ohio; a brother, Steve L. Lonker of Vinton; two grandsons, Ricky Lonker Jr., Derek Lonker, both of Sarah Ann, W.Va.. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Nighbert United Memorial Methodist Church in Logan, W.Va. by Dr. Bruce Reed and Dr. William Ross. PROSPERI, Frances Austin, 70, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 1995. She retired from the garment industry and attended Community Advent Christian Church. Surviving are her husband, Samuel Prosperi; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Joy Prosperi, Roanoke; grandsons, Tim and Todd Prosperi, Roanoke; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille and Arthur Fitzgerald, Deerfield, Ill., Shirley and J. RINK, Thomas Hillery 66, of 102 Sandpiper Circle, Water's Edge, Penhook, died Tuesday evening, March 7, 1995, at Danville Regional Medical Center. Born January 12, 1929 in Greensboro, N. C., he was a son of the late Spurgeon Jarvis Rink and Katherine Williams Rink. Mr. Rink was a member of the Penhook United Methodist Church; the Water's Edge Association of Smith Mountain Lake, Va, the Sea Pines Association of Hilton Head Island, S. C. and the Moorings Association of Vero Beach, Fla. A graduate of the College of William and Mary, Mr. Rink was a U. S. Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from International Business Machines Corporation. Mr. Rink began his thirty-one year career with IBM in Roanoke, Va. He served as chairman of the Education Center in Washington, D. C. and later moved to the Southern Headquarters in Atlanta, Ga. where he remained until his retirement. Prior to moving to Smith Mountain Lake, Mr. Rink was active in various clubs, business, civic and fraternal organizations in the Roanoke, Annandale and Atlanta areas. He is survived by his wife Mary Jo MIlam Rink of the residence formerly of the Pittsylvania County, Danville area; one son, Dr. David Thomas Rink, Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Donna Jo Rink Austin, Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Katherine Williams, Danville and Carolyn Skidmore, Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jack and Joe Austin and Rachel and Thomas Rink. TINSLEY, Lindsey K., (``Little""), 77, of Merritt Island, Fla., and formerly of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, March 5, 1995, at his residence. He was a retiree from the V.A . Medical Center in Salem with 29 years of federal service. Mr. Tinsley served in the U.S. Army during the European Campaigns of World War II and was in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lane (``Dottie"") Tinsley. Surviving are two sons, John E. WATERS, Thomas J., 58, of Roanoke, died Tuesday evening, March 7, 1995. He was retired from the Air Force with 20 years of service, a retired Deputy Sheriff from Aroostook County, Maine, and was the chief executive officer of Valley Transport Associates, Inc. Mr. Waters was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and was known as a loving and giving man. He was preceded in death by his father, John T. Waters. Surviving are his beloved wife, Norma Marie Waters; four beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and David Young, Roanoke, Barbara and David Pick, Durham, N.C., Mary and Brent Caldwell, Kathleen and Jeff Shelton, all of Salem; his beloved mother, Mary Waters, Roanoke; five beloved grandchildren, Robbie, Adam, Matthew, Emily, and Meredith; three beloved brothers and two sisters-in-law, Mike and Ann Waters, Hudson, N.C., John Paul Waters, Tucson, Ariz., Pat and Susan Waters, Roanoke; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. WOLFE, Robert Kermit, (``Snip""), of 81 Alleghany Street, Clifton Forge, died Monday, March 6, 1995, at his residence. He was born in Alleghany County, son of the late Stephen Caldwell and Sadie Childs Wolfe. He was retired Saleman for Alleghany Motors, a member of Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
