MONTGOMERY TO HOLD ROADS HEARING

Monday is the night to be heard if your concern is the state of Montgomery County's rural roads.

The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors will hold the annual public hearing on its priorities for secondary-road repairs and upgrades beginning at 7 p.m. on the third floor of the county Courthouse in downtown Christiansburg.

The Virginia Department of Transportation uses the priority list to divvy up scarce construction dollars for grading, paving and widening projects.

Also Monday, the board will:

Hear from Montgomery County School Superintendent Herman Bartlett on long-range plans for new school buildings.

Hear an annual report from the New River Valley Community Services Board.

Begin hashing out details of the 1995-96 county budget. First up: pay-raise proposals for county employees.
