SANDERSON LIFTS BLUES PAST COUNCIL IN OT

Carl Sanderson hit a short jumper with three seconds left in overtime to lift Parry McCluer past Council 70-69 in the quarterfinals of the Group A boys' high school basketball tournament Friday night.

The Fighting Blues (21-8) will meet the winner of today's William Monroe-Surry County game in the semifinals on Thursday at Liberty University in Lynchburg.
