NAMES & CHANGES

Dibrell Bros. appoints executives

Dibrell Brothers Inc., a Danville tobacco processor and importer and exporter of fresh flowers, has named RITCHIE BOND chief financial officer of Florimex, its floral division. He replaces BENNO SCHWIEGERSHAUSEN, who will remain as an adviser to the division through 1996.

Bond formerly was vice president of internal audit for Dibrell. Before joining the company in 1991, he was a senior manager with Ernst & Young.

WINFRIED FALK, formerly controller of Florimex GmbH in Nuremberg, Germany, has been named to replace Schwiegershausen as finance director of Florimex. Falk will report to Bond.

B. HOLT WARD has been named director of internal audit at Dibrell. Ward previously was the company's manager of internal audit. Before joining Dibrell in 1993, he was a senior manager with Ernst & Young.

AGRICULTURE

Progressive Farmer magazine has named HARLAN WHITE of Blacksburg 1995 Man of the Year in Service to Virginia Agriculture. White, who recently retired after 30 years as a Virginia Tech extension specialist, has been recognized for his pioneering work with new forages, grazing alfalfa, dairy pasture management, intensive grazing and no-till seeding of forages.

BANKING

Piedmont Trust Bank in Martinsville has elected new directors: DAVID BOWLES, CLAY CAMPBELL, JIM FRITH, BILLY LAWRENCE, LANGHORNE MAUCK, JAMES ROUNDTREE SR. and PAUL TOMS JR. Bowles is president of Stanley W. Bowles Corp., Campbell is president of Martinsville Speedway Inc., Frith is president and chief executive officer of Frith Equipment Corp. and executive vice president of Frith Construction Co. Inc., Lawrence is president of Lawrence & Nester Distributing Co. Inc., Mauck teaches history in the upper-school division of Carlisle School, Roundtree is director of special education of Henry County public schools and an adjunct professor of educational administration at Virginia Tech, and Toms is executive vice president-marketing for Hooker Furniture. These new directors will replace W. CHRISTOPHER BEELER JR., MICHAEL BRENAN, ALBERT PRILLAMAN, R.M. SIMMONS JR. and THOMAS STANLEY JR., who have resigned to become directors of Piedmont BankGroup Inc., the parent company of Piedmont Trust Bank.

CONSTRUCTION

LINDA K. HATCHER has joined the staff of Martin Brothers Contractors Inc. in Roanoke as project manager and estimator. She comes to the company with 14 years of construction experience. Hatcher has been on the board of directors for the National Association of Women in Construction and the Network for Professional and Managerial Women.

ENGINEERS

SCOTT KROLL has joined the Blacksburg office of Draper Aden Associates as environmental program manager. Before joining the Richmond-based consulting engineering firm, Kroll was manager of environmental engineering for Norfolk Southern Corp. in Roanoke. He has been in the environmental engineering field for more than 12 years.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

D. KYLE UMBERGER III has joined the Roanoke office of A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. as an investment broker. Umberger has been in the Roanoke banking industry for 30 years, most recently as Roanoke market manager for Signet Bank. He was on the subcommittee for small businesses and entrepreneurships for the New Century Council.

HOSPITALITY

SCOTT C. RUSSELL has been named national sales manager for The Homestead resort in Hot Springs. Russell previously was conference sales manager for Colonial Williamsburg Hotels and Resort. Before that, he was convention services manager for the Adam's Mark Hotel in Charlotte, N.C. The Homestead is one of eight U.S. and Canadian properties owned by Club Resorts.

INSURANCE

Acordia of West Virginia has promoted SUSAN McLAIN to vice president and KARI PARSONS to assistant vice president of its Roanoke office. Acordia of West Virginia has offices throughout West Virginia, Virginia and eastern Kentucky.

The E. Price Ripley Memorial Foundation has elected new officers and board members: WILLIAM REICHELT, Allstate Life Insurance Co., president; PHIL SPARKS, Roanoke Department of Economic Development, vice president; INEZ RIPLEY, community volunteer, secretary; GARY DUERK, Brown, Edwards & Co., treasurer; and COURTNEY HOGE, New York Life, immediate past president. Other new board members are SAM McNEIL, community volunteer; DEBORAH OEHLSCHLAEGER, Plunkett, Logan & Oehlschlaeger; MACK CLARK, Equitable Life/New York; JOE GRAY, Prudential of America; TODD HEARP, National Life of Vermont. The foundation is an educational, nonprofit organization established in honor of E. Price Ripley, a 54-year veteran of the life insurance industry in the Roanoke Valley who died in 1987.

MANUFACTURING

JAMES ENOCHS has been promoted to vice president of sales for the southeastern region of Optical Cable Corp. in Roanoke. Enochs has been with the company since 1988 as distribution sales manager and regional sales manager. TED LEONARD has been promoted to vice president of sales for the company's western region. He joined Optical Cable in 1992 with 12 years of technical experience in the fiber-optic field. STEVE TERRY has been promoted to inside sales manager. He joined the company in 1990 with six years of experience in the telecommunications market. Optical Cable Corp. is a manufacturer of fiber-optic cables for data communications.

MICHAEL J. BROWN of Montvale has been named senior consultant, International Police and Military Group, Top-Line USA, a company that manufactures and distributes ballistic armor and other police and military equipment. The company also consults with police and military agencies in tactical matters involving the use of safety and security equipment. Brown is a member of the International Police Association and the Fraternal Order of Police.

Nationwide Homes has appointed JOHN S. "SAM" MILLS and LEON J. HAIRSTON to new positions in the Martinsville facility. Mills has been appointed assistant plant manager for plant No. 2. A Nationwide Homes employee since 1974, he has worked in several manufacturing supervisory posts. Hairston has been named assistant plant manager for plant No. 3. He joined the company in 1977 and has held various production-related functions, most recently as plant supervisor. Nationwide Homes produces modular systems housing, remodeling additions and commercial structures.
