PERCH COST PRETTY PENNY

Calvin Carter's fishing is costing him money.

Carter has landed more than 20 citation-size yellow perch from the Chickahominy River this year.

Under the new Virginia Trophy Fish Award program, anglers must send $4 along with their application.

Carter said he stopped applying for citations after his 12th perch. His largest has been 1 pound, 15 ounces. The minimum size is 1 pound, 4 ounces or 12 inches.
