ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

Roanoke Valley new car dealers in 1994 logged their best year since 1986, according to sales statistics released last week by the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association. The cumulative reports show that 9,161 new cars were registered in the Roanoke Valley in 1994, the largest number since 10,671 eight years earlier. Last year's total was up 21 percent from 7,562 cars sold in 1993.

That trend continued into January, when 546 new cars were registered compared with 487 a year earlier. 1995's was the best January since 604 cars were registered in 1991.
