RADFORD - Radford University celebrates its new master of social work degree later this month with a lecture and a workshop with author, teacher and clinician Ann Hartman. Workshop registration ends Friday, March 17.
Hartman presents "New Directions in Social Work with Families," Thursday, March 30, 7:30 p.m., Commonwealth Room, Heth Student Center. Admission is free.
The workshop, "New Directions in Family Therapy," is Friday, March 31. The cost is $60 for professionals and $30 for full-time Radford University students.

Narrows gets planning grant
NARROWS - The town of Narrows has received a $25,000 planning grant, and now residents are invited to a community meeting Thursday, March 23, to help decide what the future of the town may hold.
The money is earmarked for studies on small-business feasibility, Giles County market conditions, infrastructure improvements, and downtown landscape improvements.
The meeting's agenda will focus on results of the citizen survey from the last meeting, long-range business goals and opportunities for the town, and the town's future.
