BIBLE COLLEGE HEAD TO GET HONORARY DOCTORATE|

The Rev. Sterling Brackett, president of Christiansburg's L.I.F.E. Bible College East, receives an honorary doctor of divinity degree next month from the board of directors of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. The board confers the diploma April 8 at the church's international convention in Seattle. Brackett has been at the school since 1989, shortly after it moved from Ohio. The college trains men and women for ministry in the Foursquare Church.

Brackett -in the pastoral ministry for 20 years - holds bachelors degrees from Tennessee Tech and Mount Vernon Bible College, and a masters degree from Radford University.

St. Mary's-Christiansburg Catholic Community, visits the Stations of the Cross Tuesdays, 7 p.m., Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Cambria St.

The unusual cross draped in purple that adorns Radford's Central United Methodist Church during Lent was fashioned from the church's Chrismon tree from Advent, thus linking the two seasons. "It's, in a way, going from birth to death and resurrection," the Rev. Joe Green said.
