BOOK FESTIVAL IN CHARLOTTESVILLE

From March 30 to April 1, the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities will present the Virginia Festival of the Book in Charlottesville.

It's a collection of readings, workshops, receptions and such, revolving around local talent and literary heavyweights Joyce Carol Oates and John Casey.

Events range from a poetry "slam" at a restaurant on the downtown mall to a book sale at the public library, a screening of Francois Truffaut's film of Ray Bradbury's "Farenheit 451," and an antiquarian book fair. Dozens of writers will participate. Among those with connections to these parts are R.H.W. Dillard, George Garrett, Rita Dove, Edward Blain and Doug Hornig.

Tickets for lunches and receptions are in the $15-25 range. For more information, call (804) 924-3296.
