ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

Roanoke Valley new-car dealers continued reporting higher sales in February. The Virginia Automobile Dealers Association said the area's dealers registered 541 new cars last month, up 0.9 percent over 546 in January but 11.3 percent more compared to 486 in February a year ago.

For the first two months of the year, the valley's car dealers registered 1,087 new cars, up 11.7 percent from 973 for the same period last year.

The February report came on top of a 21 percent increase in all of 1994 over 1993, and a 12 percent jump from January 1994 to January 1995.
