TAKE A TOUR OF HOTEL ROANOKE

Hotel Roanoke admirers finally will have a chance to sneak a peak at the restored facility. Instead of dashing to find a place in line at the hotel, however, visitors will have to rush to the box office for tickets to the event.

The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center Commission will sponsor a free open house and tours April 1 and 2. To control traffic and eliminate waiting time, advance tickets will be required.

The tours, expected to last about 30 minutes each, will originate at the parking garage at the corner of Williamson Road and Tazewell Avenue. Tickets will specify the time the bus will leave the garage. No one will be admitted to the open house by car or on foot, said city spokeswoman Michelle Bono.

Three tours will be available for the disabled and those needing special assistance.

About 4,000 tickets are available beginning today at the Roanoke Civic Center box office. The limit is six per person. The box office is open daily, except Sunday, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
