At Lynchburg, Ferrum defeated Lynchburg 6-4 in a non-conference baseball game to give coach Abe Naff his 300th career victory. Chad France went 2-for-3 with a solo home run for the Panthers (13-4).
American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball had ranked Ferrum fourth in its NCAA Division III National Baseball Poll. The Panthers, who previously were ranked 25th, received 183 votes.
At Radford, Richmond's Jay Adams had four of his team's 18 hits as the Spiders (17-2) snapped Radford's four-game winning streak with a 14-8 baseball victory.
Duane Filchner went 4-for-5 with four RBI for Radford (9-12) and is one hit shy of Radford's career record of 213 hits set by Travis Morgan (1988-89). Filchner's three-run home run in the eighth inning was the 25th of his career, two short of Morgan's record.
At Charleston, W.Va., David Fitt's two-run home run in the sixth inning lifted Virginia Tech to a 4-3 baseball victory over West Virginia. Bryan King also homered for the Hokies (8-6).
Roanoke will host a women's tennis tournament in conjunction with the Virginia Slims Legends Tour on April 21-23 at River's Edge and Crystal Spring tennis facilities.
The tournament will be open to women 21 and older. Two divisions will be offered - 3.5 and below, 4.5 and below. Winners in each division will qualify for the regional tournament May 19-21 in Richmond. That tournament will be held in conjunction with the Legends Tour event.
Regional champions will advance to the national championships in Delray Beach, Fla., Dec. 1-3.

Washington and Lee sophomore Tommy Dudley finished in a three-way tie for second place to lead the Generals to a second-place finish at the Ferrum Invitational golf tournament. Christopher Newport won the 16-team tournament with a score of 638, followed by Washington and Lee (651), Ferrum Gold (658), Hampden-Sydney (659), Lynchburg (660) and Emory & Henry (660).
Christopher Newport's Scott Scovill, the defending Division III champion, was the medalist with a 36-hole score of 154 (73-81). Dudley, Christopher Newport's Scott Causby and Hampden-Sydney's Berk Jolly were each two shots back.
At College Park, Md., Matt Hahn scored four goals to lead Maryland to a 26-3 rout of Radford in men's lacrosse. Maryland (5-0) led 9-0 before Radford (2-3) got a goal from Keith Little. The Terrapins outshot the Highlanders 68-18.
At Davidson, N.C., Francesca Foord-Kelcey and Lisa Franzino had two goals and one assist each to lead Roanoke College (2-1) to a 9-5 women's lacrosse victory over Davidson.
