FOR THE RECORD

Because of a reporter's error, a wrong location was given in a story Tuesday. The Mount Pleasant Neighborhood Watch meeting was held Monday night at the Mount Pleasant Methodist Church.

Because incorrect information was given to the newspaper, there was an error in a story Tuesday. Weblite Corp., which went out of business in 1992, manufactured a "lightweight aggregate" that was used by other companies to make cinderblock.

Because of an error by the Associated Press, a story in Tuesday's newspaper had inaccurate information. Once prostate cancer has spread beyond the prostate, the cancer is incurable. But only about 20 percent of people whose prostate cancer has spread die from the often slow-growing disease; the rest typically die of other causes.

Clarification

Bedford County Registrar Marie Batten said she did not request an opinion from the state attorney general's office about sheriff candidate Mike Brown's residency. Instead, a story Tuesday should have said she sought past opinions by the attorney general to help her in researching the question of Brown's eligibility to run for sheriff. Batten said she will make a statement about Brown's residency and eligibility to run after she interviews him later this week.
