GIRL SLASHED IN ARGUMENT OVER NECKLACE

A 15-year-old Northwest Roanoke girl was slashed on the face and wrist by another teen-ager Monday afternoon while fighting over a necklace, Roanoke police said. The victim was treated at the scene and later taken to a hospital by her mother.

Police said the argument began in school Monday between the 15-year-old and a 16-year-old girl. As the 15-year-old and two of her cousins walked along Staunton Avenue Northwest, the assailant and four other girls began verbally fighting with the threesome. The 16-year-old then produced a box cutter and slashed the 15-year-old, police said. Police expect to file malicious wounding petitions in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

In another incident, a 19-year-old Southwest Roanoke man told police he was robbed at gunpoint while in his car in the 1100 block of Orange Avenue Northwest. About 5:40 p.m. Monday, a man dressed in a green sweat suit, black ski mask and gloves pointed a handgun at the teen-ager and demanded his wallet. The teen-ager threw his wallet to the ground and drove away. The wallet contained $50.
