WOLFE, Annie Katherine, 84, of 504 White Pines Country Club Rd., Mt. Airy, N.C., widow of the late James Harrison Wolfe, died Monday afternoon, March 20, 1995, at her home. Mrs. Wolfe was born September 3, 1910, in Wythe Co., Va. to the late Stephen Monroe and Oma L. Sult Daugherty, was retired from Oakdale Knitting Co. and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, N.C. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. H. B. (Mary) Virginia Googer of Stone Mountain, Ga. and Mrs. J. A. (Katherine) Stephens of Greenville, Tenn.; two stepsons, Mr. William Bowyer, Bradenton, Fla., and Mr. Elliott Bowyer, Charlotte, N. C. ; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Virginia Hudson, Logan, W.Va. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 22, 1995, at 2 p.m. at the Temple Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, with services conducted by the Rev. Teague Groce and the Rev. Tommy Willis, with burial to follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, N.C., where her body will remain until time to be taken to the church to lie in state, 30 minutes before the service. The family requests that flowers by omitted and memorials be made to the Temple Baptist Church Building Fund, 3131 Rockford St., Mt. Airy, N.C. 27030.

AKERS, Charles Derwood, 72, of Salem, formerly of Elliston, died Monday, March 20, 1995, at Richfield Nursing Center. He was employed with Norfolk & Western Railroad for several years. He was a member Lafayette Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Bessie W. Akers and a brother, J. Douglas Akers. Surviving are three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Gordon and Julia Akers, Elliston, Clovis and Alvin Akers, Salem, Boyd and Marie Akers, Roanoke, Clara Akers, Roanoke; one sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Eloise and James Overstreet of Salem; also several nieces and nephews; former wife, Maggie Lee Owens Akers, Pulaski. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at the John M. Oakey Funeral Home Chapel, Salem with the Rev. Tom Clay officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. COLEMAN, Margaret Virginia King, 83, of Rt. 3, Wytheville, the Piney Community, died Monday, March 20, 1995, in the Wythe County Community Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Lester Acey Coleman, of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Ralph Ogle of Max Meadows, Geraldine and Charles Ray Cassell of Wytheville, Shirley and Carl Ayers and Shelby Jean and Roy Dean Spraker, both of Rt. 3, Wytheville; one son and daughter-in-law, Rev. CROWDER, Minnie W. 96, of Roanoke, died Sunday, March 19,1995. Mrs. Crowder was the widow of Thelmer H. Crowder, a charter member of Grandin Court Baptist Church, a member of Windsor Hills Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her son, C. Leon Crowder. Mrs. Crowder is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Clancy T. O'Dowd, Plano, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Nancy S. Crowder, Norcross, Ga.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. CULLERS, Juanita Steele, 89, of 4000 Wevanoke Dr., Portsmouth, died Monday, March 20, 1995 in the Suffolk Nursing Home. She was a native of Vesuvius, Va. She was the widow of Virgil M. EUNSON, Robert Kitchen, 76, of Salem, died peacefully, Monday, March 20, 1005. He was a member and elder of Salem Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years. Mr. Eunson retired from General Electric where he was a Plant Engineer and Manager of Facilities. He is survived by his wife, Celia W. FIX, Paul S., 43, of Smith Mountain Lake, passed away Monday, March 20, 1995. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the U.C.T. He had worked as a Boy Scout Leader in past years. Surviving are his daughter, Melissa J. Born in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late George and Sisley Haley Cooper. She was retired form Franklin Memorial Hospital where she was a nursing assistant. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Warrior Hodges. MOORE, Margaret Swain, 83, of Vinton, died Monday, March 20, 1995. She was a member of Vinton Baptist Church. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Carl M. and Dorothy J. MOORE, Reba Campbell, 69, of Roanoke, passed away Monday evening, March 20, 1995, at a local hospital. She valiantly battled cancer for almost five years in addition to other medical problems. She had been a member of Melrose Baptist Church and Melrose Avenue Methodist Church and was currently a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church. Reba graduated from Jefferson Senior High School and took American Institute of Banking Courses. She worked in many fields during her career. She worked at First National Exchange Bank, Colonial American National Bank, Roanoke City Schools and helped to open the first Leggett's Store in downtown Roanoke. She enjoyed music, sports, arts, flowers, and many beautiful things. She was the world's best wife and mother. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 1/2 years, David H. Moore; one loving daughter, Karen Dianne Moore, both of Roanoke; also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Jane Campbell, Salem; a sister-in-law, Virgie Campbell, Salem; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roy and June Moore, Dallas, Texas; a numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 1995, at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. William Anthony Layman officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. ROCHESTER, Annie Christine McMinnis, 78, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 1995, at her home. She was retired from General Electric and Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence W. Rochester; daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta R. Abbott, Vickie R. and Joseph M. Clarke, Norma R. and John H. Plunkett, all of Roanoke. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jay D. Abbott, John D. Abbott, Jeffrey J. Plunkett and wife, Molly, Stephen T. Plunkett and wife, Roxanne, Sarah A. Clarke, John L. SAUNDERS, LITTLE JOHN, (``Billy""), 36, of Roanoke, formerly of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, March 20, 1995, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by Virginia Palmer, his grandparents, Mrs. Lottie H. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Mable Saunders. Survivors include his father, Albert Saunders of Lynchburg; two sisters, Patricia and Roslyn Williams; two brothers, Albert C. Williams and Warren Saunders, all of New York; grandparent, Charles A. Smith; two aunts, Mrs. Nancy Dillard and Mildred Smith; one great-aunt, Mrs. Louise Blankenship; aunt-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Smith, all of Lynchburg; five uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. SMITH, Nina Ellen, (``Granny''), 87, of Pembroke, died Monday afternoon, March 20, 1995, in Rich Creek, Va. Born in Pembroke on December 21, 1907, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Leonard and Minnie Idabelle Martin Meredith of Pembroke. Granny attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, New River Ward in Pembroke, and was the wife of the late Elijah Luther Paul ``Fidel'' Smith. Surviving are two daughters, Rachael S. Cumbee of Pembroke, with whom she made her home, and Martha Vaught of Ft. Myers, Fla.; one brother, Willard Meredith of Blacksburg; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and among many loving nieces and nephews, a special niece, Sadie Meredith Williams. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 23, 1995, at 2 p.m. in The New River Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pembroke, with Bishop Larry Green presiding. Burial will be in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. SPANGLER, Evelyn Trail, 75, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, March 20, 1995, in a Waynesboro hospital. She was the widow of Frazier R. Spangler. Surviving are her daughters, Dreama S. Garrett, Roanoke, Connie S. Neal, Goodview, Carolyn S. Moore, Waynesboro; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry W. and Carolyn S. Spangler, Roanoke; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Guy R. Trail, Hopewell, Herman A. Trail, Roanoke; sister, Agnes T. Leonard, Roanoke; a number of nieces and nephews. THOMAS, Edith Wheeler, 76, of Vinton, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 1995. She was a life long member of the Jeters Chapel Church of the Brethren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl N. Thomas. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald (Welford) and Jean Thomas, of Salem, and Donald and Glenda Thomas, of Riner; daughters and son-in-law, Karlene Powers, of Vinton, and Betty and Billy Chumbley, of Roanoke; a brother Edgar (Junior) Wheeler, of Vinton; two sisters, Mary Gross, of Montvale, and Shelvye Foutz, of Baltimore, Md.; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. WHITAKER, Joan Merita Martin, 47, of Dublin, formerly of Falls Church and Pulaski, passed away Monday, March 20, 1995, after a short bout with cancer. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1966 and later graduated from Northern Virginia Community College with a degree in nursing in 1975. She was preceded in death by her father, Garnet Martin. She is survived by her mother, Thelma Martin; mother-in-law, Mildred Whitaker; her husband of twenty-five years, Donald C. Whitaker; son, Scott Whitaker; daughter and fiance, Sheryl Whitaker and Gerrit Hockstra; stepson and wife, Donald and Kathy Whitaker. The family requests that flowers not be sent. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 1995, at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford, with Dr. David Kingston, Elder at the Blacksburg Christian Fellowship, officiating.
