THE ANNUAL PRAYER BREAKFAST, sponsored by Guiding Star Church of God in Christ, is scheduled Saturday beginning at 8:30 at the church, 804 Madison Ave. N.W. Advance tickets for the buffet meal are available for $5 by calling 344-8653 after 9 p.m. Tickets also are available at the door.

The guest speaker will be the Rev. Sheree Sykes, co-pastor of Sheikh Preparation Assembly of Lynchburg.

AN AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM begun recently for third- and fourth-graders at Huff Lane School is attracting about 15 children weekly. It is a new outreach ministry of Northminster Presbyterian Church nearby. Church volunteers staff the program that includes tutoring and recreation.

THE GRACE COLLEGE CHAMBER SINGERS of Winona, Ind., will perform March 31 at 7:30 p.m. at Patterson Memorial Grace Brethren Church, 5512 Hollins Road. The singers and an instrumental ensemble include 17 students at the denominational college. Call 362-0336 for more information.

ROANOKE VALLEY BAPTIST TEMPLE, 10th Street at Hillcrest Avenue Northwest, will have a program by the Movin' Up Quartet, a gospel music group from Winterville, N.C., on April 2 at 7:30 p.m.

VILLA HEIGHTS BAPTIST CHURCH, 4080 Challenger Ave. N.E., will have revival services Sunday through Wednesday nights at 7. Rev. Carl Burger will be the evangelist, and special music will be presented nightly. A nursery also will be available.

EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH in the Kingstown neighborhood of Roanoke County will be host to the annual session of the Missionary Baptist District Bible School Convention of Southwest Virginia on Friday and Saturday. The meeting offers training to teachers for various age groups in churches.

The Rev. George Hamilton, a chaplain at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem, will preach at the concluding dinner Saturday. The meeting will begin Friday at 5:45 p.m. and at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

CHAD PACK, a 1993 Glenvar High School graduate who speaks both French and Spanish, will leave April 12 for a two-year mission assignment with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Pack, son of Steve and Lela Brown of Salem, will serve in Bordeaux, France. He will address the Salem LDS congregation on Wayburn Drive during a special service at 11 a.m. Sunday.

ROANOKE CATHEDRAL OF PRAISE, a Pentecostal Church of God congregation on Angel Lane, has started a new Sunday school class for young adults. The class meets each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. at Sunnybrook Inn on Plantation Road. An optional breakfast precedes the class. Call 362-8041 for more information.

THE VIRGINIA ASHER BIBLE COUNCIL, an evangelical Christian women's group, is taking reservations for its annual conference in Charlotte, N.C., on April 29 and 30. Call Hazel Prease at 345-3101 for more information.
