WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO GIVING INFANT LIQUOR

A Bedford County woman pleaded guilty this week to neglecting her infant daughter, who fell into a coma after the woman gave her liquor.

Elisa Jennings Little, 24, faces up to five years in prison. A sentencing date has not been set.

Her daughter was 14 months old in October when she was taken to Bedford County Memorial Hospital.

Doctors said the baby fell into a coma after her blood-sugar level dropped because her liver was not mature enough to metabolize alcohol.

The child has been placed in foster care.
