The Executive Committee on Thursday completed the work of assigning the 30 board members, as well as the various ideas brainstormed at last week's full board meeting, to the six work committees established last week.
"We came up with lots of ideas," said Sybil Atkinson, chairwoman of the executive committee. "I think we need to channel these ideas to some of these committees."
One executive committee member will serve on each of the work committees. That person will contact the board members on his or her committee to set up the initial meetings in the next two weeks.
The group also planned to have representatives meet Tuesday with state Sen. Malfourd "Bo" Trumbo, R-Fincastle, when he will be in Pulaski, to discuss what limits legislation puts on interstate highway signs directing motorists to Pulaski. Board members thought Pulaski's name was under-represented on interstate road signs.
They also thought road entrances to town need to be cleaned and enhanced with more attractive signs, and they will contact town and Pulaski County officials about that.
Plans were made to organize a group of people who could be on call to welcome employees of new businesses or industries and encourage them to visit, or live in, Pulaski. It would be "a core sales team," Atkinson said, "to sell Pulaski to whoever is coming in."
