TULTEX UNION VOTE SET FOR TODAY

Tultex workers at the Martinsville plant will vote on their first-ever union contract today after six months of negotiations, union officials said.

The vote comes after three days of continuous bargaining between company officials and the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union.

Pay and fringe benefits are main points of the negotiations. However, terms of the contract will not be disclosed until after the vote.

The vote will be made during a meeting at the Martinsville Junior High School, 30 Cleveland Ave., in Martinsville. The meeting is set to begin at 4 p.m.

Tultex has agreed to allow employees scheduled to work at that time to attend the meeting.
