ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

The number of passengers dropped 3.4 percent at the Roanoke Regional Airport last month compared with January, but spokesman Mark Courtney attributed the decline to the fewer number of days in February. The month's passenger count also was off 1.66 percent compared with February 1994.

Courtney noted that it was just a year ago last month that USAir instituted a program of dramatically reduced fares, kicking off a boom in passenger growth starting that month. So far this year, the airport has boarded 44,816 passengers compared with 41,356 for the same two months last year, an increase of 8.37 percent.
