The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Raleigh, N.C., has approved a lease agreement between KTI of North Carolina, owner of the Roanoke County shopping center, and Stein Mart, an 82-store apparel and housewares chain based in Jacksonville, Fla.
KTI has been in reorganization while it arranges permanent financing for the mall. All creditors are expected to be fully paid, and the company is expected to emerge from the bankruptcy court's supervision in about six months, KTI said.
Stein Mart said this month it would open this fall in a 35,000-square-foot space on Tanglewood's lower level.
The mall renovation will be in two phases, the owners said. The first will involve moving existing tenants and remodeling for Stein Mart. The second, scheduled to begin after the Christmas season, will refinish floors and walls and create new interior landscaping.
