MARK F. HARTMAN of Roanoke has been named to the fall dean's list at Widener University in Pennsylvania.
THE GEN. JAMES BRECKINRIDGE CHAPTER, DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION recently announced winners of its Good Citizen Award.
The winners, all high school seniors, were chosen for their dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. They are: Jeremy Wayne Rhoades, Lord Botetourt High School, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Rhoades of Daleville; Jason Wayne Karnes, North Cross School, son of Thomas Edward Karnes of Roanoke; Michael Todd Sisler, Patrick Henry High School, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harland Sisler of Roanoke; and Rhonda Elayne Wright, Roanoke Valley Christian Schools, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Wright of Roanoke.
TRACI D. OSBORNE and ELIZABETH L. WEDEMEYER, both of Roanoke, have been named to the dean's list at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.
CHRISTOPHER MITCHELL, son of Bruce and Joyce Mitchell of Roanoke, has been named to the dean'slist at the University of Virginia for the fall semester.
He is a first-year student in the college of arts and sciences.
KRISTYNE E. KEYES of Roanoke recently was named to the dean's list at the University of Charleston in Charleston, W.Va.
CHRISTOPHER L. BOYD, son of Dianne Boyd of Roanoke and a student at Lynchburg College, recently participated in the ninth annual Black Student Leadership Development Conference at the College of William and Mary.
The conference provides both black and white participants with the opportunity to fine tune their leadership skills and to learn from today's leaders the qualities that will help them in the 21st century.
Boyd, a graduate of Patrick Henry High School, is a sophomore journalism major.
JOHN E. KINNEY of Vinton was named to the dean's list at High Point University in High Point, N.C., for the fall semester.
MARY WASHINGTON COLLEGE recently announced the names of Roanoke-area students on its fall semester dean's list. They are: Ellen C. Harris, Roanoke; Brenton J. Poythress, Salem; and Noah M. Surface, Iron Gate.
CADET CHRISTOPHER B. MEACHAM, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russ Meacham of Troutville, was one of 58 Virginia Military Institute cadets who received his diploma during the fall term.
Meacham, a Lord Botetourt High School graduate, earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.
WHITNEY S. HELMS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Helms of Roanoke, was recently named to the dean's list at Emory College in Atlanta, Ga.
BRYAN TIMS, son of Dr. and Mrs. Roger Tims of Roanoke, has been awarded a Cushing Scholarship at Hampden-Sydney College where he is a freshman.
Named in honor of former college president Jonathan Cushing, the scholarships are awarded annually to freshman who display qualities of leadership, maturity and good will.
CADET DAVID O. PHELPS II, son of Brenda and David Phelps Sr., was among 40 Virginia Military Institute students named to the 1995 edition of ``Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.''
Phelps is a senior physics major with math and psychology minors. He is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School.
LYNCHBURG COLLEGE recently announced the names of its Roanoke students who will be listed in ``Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.'' They are: Beaufort Martin, Michael Wolf and Tonya Zimmer.
