HARD-LUCK HOKIES FALL 6-5 IN BASEBALL

Extra innings have meant only extra heartbreak this week for Virginia Tech's baseball team.

Bobby Rubin's two-out single scored Greg Bulheller from third base with the winning run in the bottom of the 14th inning as James Madison (22-9) defeated the Hokies 6-5 in a non-conference game Thursday in Harrisonburg.

On Tuesday, Tech (14-9) lost to Richmond 5-4, giving up three 11th-inning runs.

The Dukes scored twice in the 14th after Virginia Tech had taken the lead in the top of the inning when relief pitcher Jon Hand (1-1) walked, advanced to third base on a wild pitch and a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.
