TECH'S STUDENT-RUN 'WOOVIT' SEEKS LISTENERS' SUPPORT

It's RADIOTHON time again at Virginia Tech's student-run WUVT (90.7 FM). The listener-supported station's semiannual fund-raising event starts Monday and continues through April 9. Donations are the primary source of income for the station - often called ``Woovit'' - which airs a diverse schedule of music and other programming.

WUVT also offers a program guide to keep listeners up to date on its 24-hour broadcast schedule, which includes Greek, classical, alternative, metal, jazz and blues. Indian music is the latest addition to the eclectic format.

Starting Monday, New River Valley radio listeners can hear an hour of ``THE DOUG WILDER SHOW'' from Richmond on WFNR (710 AM). The program - featuring the former Virginia governor-turned-radio talker - airs 10-11 a.m. weekdays. Call 382-6106.

14-K WKEX (1430 AM) broadcasts live from the Senior Athletes of Montgomery County's rummage sale today, 9 a.m.-noon, Christiansburg National Guard Armory, College and Depot streets. Bob Smith and the WKEX Clown have freebies for visitors.

Levi Garrett of KOOL Country WBNK (100.7 FM) is live from the second annual Kid's Fest, today, 11 a.m., New River Valley Mall. Among other things, he'll interview Vince and Larry, the crash-test dummies, and help local police create children's identification cards. Visitors can register to win tickets to see The Eagles.

``Armchair Quarterback'': Today, 9-10 a.m., on WFNR (710 AM), with guest, Southern Methodist University Athletic Director Jim Copeland.
