WILLIAMS, Eleata Irene, 55, of Ft. Pierce, Fla., died Wednesday, March 29, 1995 at a local hospital. She was born in Penington Gap, Va. and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, Paul W. Williams, Ft. Pierce, Fla.; one son, Robert Kelgin Williams, Bryant Texas; two daughters, Debbie Connelly, Cindy Baugh, both of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; four brothers, Glenn Biggs, Huber Heights, Ohio, Franklin Biggs, Bristol, Tenn., Dave Biggs, Ranier, Ore., Olin Biggs, Penington Gap, Va.; three sisters, Genell Patton, Huber Heights, Ohio, Geraldine Harris, Virginia Beach, Virginia May, Antioch, Tenn.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 3, 1995, at 11 a.m. in the Haisley-Hobbs Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Morton officiating. Burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. ATKIN, Jerrie Werber, 76, of Roanoke County, passed away Friday, March 31, 1995. Mrs. Atkin was a retired journalist from the Roanoke Times & World-News and was the widow of Robert James Atkin Sr. Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Rojer Atkin, Snowshoe, W.Va., D. Scott and Christine Atkin, Newport, R.I., her daughter, Bonnie Kate Atkin, Roanoke County; her grandchildren, Chelsey and Annsley Atkin. A memorial service will be held at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church (2339 Grandin Road) Sunday, April 2, 1995, 2 p.m. with the Rev. James Drinard Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel Saturday, April 1, 1995 from 6 to 8 p.m.

BEAMER, Celia Cartwright, 78, of Fincastle, died Thursday, March 30, 1995. She was the wife of James E. Beamer Sr. She was born in Toledo, Ohio and grew up in Norfolk, Va. She graduated from Radford College and began her teaching career in the Eagle Rock High School in 1940 as a Business Education Teacher. She moved to Appomattox in 1951 and resumed her teaching career in 1956 in the Appomattox High School, where she was Head of the Business Department. She was the sponsor of the FBLA and headed the VOT Program. She was one of the Jehovah's Witnesses and was associated with the Troutville congregation. She is survived by her husband, James E. Beamer, Fincastle; a son, James E. Beamer Jr., Fincastle; a daughter, Jo Ann Beamer Merchant, Nags Head, N.C.; grandchildren, Sheryl and Gary Jason Merchant, Nags Head, N.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Bennie W. Pierce, Windsor; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Noreen and Jack Williamson, Fincastle. Memorial donations to the Eagle Rock Rescue Squad would be appreciated. The family will receive friends Saturday 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Eagle Rock Funeral Home. BOSWELL, Evelyn Whittaker, 94, of Narrows, died Friday morning, March 31, 1995, in the Riverview Nursing Home, Rich Creek, Va. She was a lifelong resident of Giles County. Born on March 18, 1901, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Della Mae Ruinons Whittaker. She was a graduate of Narrows High School and the Lewis-Gale Hospital School of Nursing in Roanoke. She retired as a Registered Nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman Archer Boswell on March 25, 1972. She is survived by a niece, Beebe Moses of Uvalda, Ga; a sister-in-law, Patty Elizabeth Boswell, Macon, Ga.; a cousin, Thelma Harless Stanley, Roanoke. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with the Rev. Jack E. Musick officiating. Friends may call at Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows, Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.

BREWER, Roy Olin, 60, of Speedwell, died Thursday, March 30, 1995, in the Roanoke Community Hospital. He was a member of the Speedwell United Methodist Church, where he served as Treasurer; served on the Wythe County School Board for 17 years and served as Chairman for 11 years. He was a member of the Speedwell Ruritan Club and Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge #226, A.F. & A.M. and was preceded in death by his parents, Aubry L. and Hattie Kane Brewer and three brothers, James, Raymond and Charles ``Bobby"" Brewer. He is survived by his wife, Glenthia R. Brewer; one daughter, Mary Brewer both of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Stacy and Sheri Brewer of Bastian; four sisters, Ruby Phipps of Sparta, N.C., Virginia Grisso, Speedwell, Betty Tolley, Elk Creek, Wanda Sue Brewer, Speedwell; three brothers, Robert ``Pete"" Brewer, Gerald ``Butch"" Brewer, Donald Brewer, Speedwell; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 1995, at the Speedwell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patricia Edwards and the Rev. Doug Stuart officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The remains will be taken to the church where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday or at the residence at any time. Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge #226, A.F. & A.M. will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m. Saturday at the church. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Speedwell Volunteer Fire Department or the Speedwell Rescue Squad. Serving as pallbearers are Gerald Brewer, Greg Sayers, Frank Williams, Mike Bedwell, Tommy Grisso, Bill Rigney, Mark Alley, and Nathan Stephens. Members of the Wythe County School Board will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements. There will be no church services at the Speedwell United Methodist Church on Sunday.

BROWN, Nathaniel, 51, of Radford, died Tuesday, March 28, 1995 in a Radford Hospital. Born August 19, 1943 in Galax, he was the son of the late Manuel Brown and Betty L. McClain. He was an employee of Radford Community Hospital for 111/2 years. He is survived by one daughter, Chesea Brown of Roanoke; four sons, Arthur Brown, Wardell Brown, Clifford Brown and Roland Brown, all of Roanoke; one brother, Manuel Brown Jr. of St. Louis, Mo.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Brown of St. Louis, Mo.; three nieces, Monica Brown of St. Louis, Mo., Wanda Gentilini of St. Louis, Mo., and Patricia Caralbello of Roanoke; eight grandchildren. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by one sister, Mattie Brown; two brothers, Henry Brown and Wardell Brown. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 3, 1995, at Claytor-Dean Funeral Home with the Rev. H. A. Linsey officiating. Burial will be in Galax Cemetery, Galax, Va. CAYTON, Dora E., 82, of Troutville, passed away Friday, March 31, 1995. Formerly of Newport News, she was preceded in death by her son, George H. Cayton and her husband, Harvey L. Cayton. Surviving are her daughter, Ann C. McAlpin, Troutville; grandson, David McAlpin Jr. and wife, Michelle; great-grandson, David McAlpin III, all of Minot, N.D. DUNLAP, Frederick M., (``Fred''), 82, beloved father and grandfather, passed away at home in Lakeside, Calif., on Wednesday, March 29, 1995. He was born on March 17, 1913, in Roanoke, a son of the late William Thomas Dunlap and Mary Ellen ``Mamie'' Lynn Dunlap. Mr. Dunlap lived in Roanoke for 36 years, in Florida for 12 years and in the San Diego, Calif., area for the past 34 years. He worked in electronics for General Dynamics and for Teledyne Ryan in San Diego, having retired in 1975. Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia D. West of San Diego, Calif.; two sons, Preston Dunlap of Merced, Calif.; Philip Dunlap of Lakeside, Calif.; five grandchildren, Larisa Lillegr en of Seattle, Wash., Lisa Emmanouilidis of San Diego, Calif., David Dunlap of Merced, Calif., Philip Dunlap Jr. of San Diego, Calif.; Joshua Dunlap of Tucson, Ariz.; one nephew, Richard ``Dick'' Dunlap of Pensacola, Fla.; and cousins in Roanoke, Va. FLEMING, Elveida M., 71, of Salem, died Friday, March 31, 1995, in a local hospital. She was a member of the Salem Church of Christ, where she was active in the choir and the Young At Heart group. She was preceded in death by her father, Echolas R. Ball. Surviving are her husband, William C. Fleming; mother, Maeola Ball, Salem; son and daughter-in-law, Garry and Susan Fleming; two grandchildren, Amanda and Andrew Fleming, all of Roanoke; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and James D. Fugate, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Salem Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society. HEIZER, Joe Wendell, (``Buddy""), 73, of Fairfield, died Friday, March 31, 1995, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Mr. Heizer was born August 27, 1921, in Rockbridge County a son of the late Byron Hogue Heizer and Edna Cox Heizer. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Haywood Heizer and John Ewell Heizer; one sister, Reba Heizer Stockdale. Surviving are his children, Glenda Heizer Gordon, Fisherville, Kathy Heizer, Stuarts Draft, Teresa Carter Smith, Staunton, David Carter, Buena Vista, Susan Carter Moredock, Stuarts Draft; two grandchildren, Ashley Gordon, Fishersville, Scott Gordon, Midlothian; five brothers, Twyman Heizer, Greenville, J.C. HENDRICKS, Rev. John Rallson Sr., 84, of Rocky Mount, died Sunday, March 26, 1995, of advanced Alzheimer's Disease. He was born November 5, 1910, in Glade Spring, Va. He was preceded in death, June 8, 1989, by his wife, Josephine Masengill Hendricks, 79. He retired in 1975 after 40 years service to the Methodist Church. He served at churches throughout Virginia, including First United Methodist Church in Martinsville and South Roanoke Methodist Church. He was a graduate of and held an honorary PhD. from Emory and Henry College and graduated from Yale Divinity School. He was a founding trustee of Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk. Survivors include daughters, JoNeal Scully, of Charlottesville, and Ruth Ann Taylor, of Snow Creek; a son, John Rallson Hendricks Jr., of Spr uce Pine, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A private family service was held March 27, 1995, at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford, Va. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 2, 1995 at First United Methodist Church, Martinsville, at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Virginia Wesleyan College, the John R. HYLTON, Cornelia Adina 71, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, March 31, 1995. She was the widow of Donald Ray Hylton. She was a registered nurse at Jefferson Hospital and a teacher of literacy. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Danny Hazelwood, Bastrop, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Lauren Black Hylton, Kensington, Md.; granddaughters, Deanna Hylton, Martha Hylton; brother and sister-in-law, R. MENDS, Peter Nisbet, 74, of Lantana, Fla., formerly of Roanoke, died Monday, March 20, 1995, at his home. He had lived and worked in the Roanoke/Salem area for the past 4 years, and he had moved into his new home only a few weeks previously. A simple memorial service was held in Lantana. He was born in London, England, on February 15, 1921, and served in the Royal Air Force during World War II. He came to the United States in 1950, and worked as a building contractor, factory manager, and as a jet engine test engineer. He is survived by a son, Barry Mends, of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a daughter, Lynn Calhoun, of Bedford Village, N.Y.; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Marie Mends, Huddleston.

MOTTLEY, Roena Edith, 80, of Salem, died Friday, March 31, 1995, at her home. She was preceded in death by a son, Clinton Mottley and a grandson, Randy Mottley. She is survived by her husband, Everett T. Mottley; three sons, James Mottley and Johnny Mottley, both of Roanoke, Marvin Mottley, Salem; two daughters, Edith Poole, Roanoke, Helen Mann, Tempe, Arizona; one sister, Lucy Collins, Roanoke; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren. NISWANDER, Mary Wallace Wilson, of Buena Vista, died at the Shenandoah Valley Nursing Home Wednesday, March 29, 1995. She was born in Rockbridge County on February 2, 1910, the daughter of the late James Russell Wilson and Margaret Lackey Wilson. She was a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing and retired from the State of Virginia Health Department after many years of service. She was also associated with the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Lexington early in her nursing career. She was an active member of the Buena Vista Womens Club and the Business and Professional Womens Organization. In 1973, she was awarded Citizen of the Year by the Buena Vista Lions Club for her dedicated service in public health to the people of the area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Niswander; two brothers, William A. Wilson and John R. Wilson. Survivors include two nephews, Michael T. Wilson, Raleigh, N.C., James A. Wilson, B radley Beach, N.J.; two nieces, Mary Kay Vila, Hollywood, Fla., Pamela McCann, Tamarac, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Carl D. Niswander, Kingsport, Tenn.; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Wilson, Buena Vista, Kay Wilson, Hollywood, Fla.; a special cousin, Evelyn Wilson Springes, Nashville, Tenn.
