NAMES & CHANGES

Mycock heads ETS

JOHN C. MYCOCK, executive vice president of ETS International Inc., has been appointed to the additional position of president of the Roanoke company. He succeeds GARY GREINER, who died Feb. 26.

Mycock, one of the company's founders, has been an officer and director since 1988 and is secretary/treasurer. In his new position, he will be responsible for the general management of ETS Inc.

Mycock has more than 25 years of experience in the field of air pollution control and has written publications on the subject. ETS Inc. has been a provider of air pollution control services and related technology since 1973.

AGRICULTURE

ALLEN MELTON, Southern States Cooperative in Roanoke, and T.C. BEASLEY, Roanoke Farm Credit, were elected directors of the Virginia Council of Farmer Cooperatives. Melton also was elected secretary of the council. GRAYSON ROBINSON, Mid-America Dairymen, Roanoke, was elected to fill the one-year unexpired term of G.H. Cain.

BANKING

NELSON L. PRILLAMAN JR. has been appointed loan review officer for Piedmont BankGroup based in Martinsville. Prior to joining Piedmont BankGroup in 1991, Prillaman worked for banks in Roanoke and Lynchburg.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

BRIAN DUVALL of Roanoke has been hired as executive director of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. He replaces RUSS MERRITT, who has been named executive director of the Franklin County YMCA. Duvall has worked as a director of the Investment Exchange, in mortgage services, financial management and training, in marketing for leadership training, and in television production and direction.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

STEPHEN WASKEY has joined Wheat First Butcher Singer as a financial consultant in the Roanoke branch office. Previously, Waskey was an officer in the U.S. Army for four years.

DANIEL PIZZULLO has joined Ferguson, Andrews & Associates as an account executive. Formerly owner of Pizzulo & Associates since 1985 in Roanoke, he has18 years of experience in the financial services field.

HOSPITALITY

LYNN BROWNING has been named director of catering at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center, managed by Doubletree Hotels Corp. She previously was director of catering at the Jefferson Club in Roanoke. Browning also has worked for Holiday Inn and Marriott hotels and is a member of the International Special Events Society.

FELIX KESSLER, 16-year veteran of The Homestead resort hotel in Hot Springs, has been appointed director of convention services. Before coming to The Homestead, Kessler was with Hotel Alexandra Palace in Arosa, Switzerland; Norwegian America Line; Albergo Consolina in San Nazzaro, Switzerland; and Grand Hotel Belvedere in Daves, Switzerland. The Homestead is owned and operated by Dallas-based Club Resorts Inc.

TED KLEISNER JR., president and managing director of The Greenbrier resort hotel in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., has been named 1994 Resort Executive of the Year. The award is jointly sponsored by Robinson, Yesawich & Pepperdine Inc. of Orlando, Fla., and Reed Hotel Directories Group, publishers of Hotel & Travel Index and The Official Hotel Guide. Kleisner joined The Greenbrier in 1980 and became its chief executive in 1989. He is president of The Greenbrier Resort Management Co. which also owns and operates the Grand Teton Lodge Co. in Moran, Wyo., and manages the Boca Bay Pass Club in Boca Grande, Fla.

INSURANCE

LINDA BENEDICT has joined Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield as vice president and general manager of senior markets. Based in Roanoke, her responsibilities include marketing and operations for Medicare supplement, long-term care and other products. She previously held a similar position with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maryland.

CRAIG RYDER has joined Scott Insurance as chief financial officer, secretary and treasurer. Prior to joining Scott, Ryder was owner and president of Ryder/Compo Construction Co. from 1992 to 1994, vice president of finance and operations of Hoy Construction Inc. from 1984 to 1992, and a certified public accountant specializing in real estate and construction with KPMG Peat Marwick from 1981 to 1984.

NONPROFITS

The Roanoke Valley Historical Society has elected new officers: DONALD DYE, retired, Rowe Furniture Corp., president; MARY ANN JOHNSON, community volunteer, vice president; PAUL KUHNEL, Woods, Rogers & Hazlegrove, secretary; and WAYNE LEWIS, Valley Bank, treasurer. New board members are WILLIAM FRALIN JR., Jolly, Place, Fralin & Prillaman; JAMES GRUBE, The Teamwork Co. Inc.; ANNE HAMMERSLEY, community volunteer; CAROL JARRETT, First Union National Bank of Virginia; HARRIET LEWIS, YWCA of Roanoke Valley; WILLIAM STEPHENSON IV, Business Management Services; and BARBARA THORNTON, community volunteer. The society operates the Roanoke Valley History Museum at Center in the Square.

ANNIE EAGAN has been appointed director of marketing and public relations at Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest in Forest. Eagen comes to the National Historic Landmark in Bedford County from the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, where she was assistant director of public information. Before that, she was on the public relations team of the San Francisco Zoo.

RETAIL

ROBERT A. LEGGETT III of Lynchburg has been named president of Leggett Stores, a Danville-based department and discount store chain with operations in the Roanoke and New River valleys. Leggett will succeed his father, Robert A. Leggett Jr. of Henderson, N.C., who has retired after a 44-year career with the company. Robert Leggett III most recently was executive vice president of finance and operations. He joined Leggett in 1983 as manager of real estate and store planning.
