CLARK, William Robert, (``Bill""), 72, of Route 7, Rocky Mount, died Saturday, April 1, 1995 at his home. Mr. Clark was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Craig Clark. Surviving are his wife, Leona Clark; sons and daughters-in-law, William R. Jr. and Francis Clark, Glade Hill, Thomas R. Clark, Rocky Mount, George R. and Connie Clar, Boones Mill, David M. Clark, Rocky Mount; daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine C. Lampkin, Marie C. Knoblock, Wanda G and Allan Mc Millian, all of Wirtz, Teresia F. and Alan Beaty, Nashville, Tenn., 17 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; also surviving are one brother, seven sisters; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday in Flora Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bob Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials be made to Glade Hill Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 82, Glade Hill, Va. 24092. ARRINGTON, William Ray, 66, of Bedford, died Saturday, April 1, 1995 in a Fayetteville, N.C. hospital. He was born in Bedford County July 28, 1928 a son of the late Leslie Ray Arrington and Lucy Vau ghan Arrington. He was a member of Sedalia Baptist Church at Big Island and was a retied Master Sergeant in the U. S. Marines Corps with over 25 years service. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of A. Arrington, of St. Pauls, N.C.; a daughter, Margarett A. Arrington and his former wife Phyllis Ann Arrington both of Goodview; a brother Carl V. Arrington of Goode; two sisters, Rachel A. Hudson, of Big Island and Roberta A. Helms, of Goode; also several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday, April 4, 1995 at 10 a.m. at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John C. Mitchell and American Legion Post #16 officiating. BRANSCOME, Eugene Ray, 67, of Salem, died Saturday, April 1, 1995 in a Salem nursing home. Surviving are a brother, John V. Branscome, of Woodstown, N.J.; sisters, Marjerie B. Ford, of Martinsville, and Joanne B. Harrison, of Copper Hill; and several nieces and nephews. CARTER, Monroe Ollen, 79, of Vinton, passed away Saturday, April 1, 1995 in the Veterans Hospital, Salem, Va. He served with the U.S. Army during WW II and received the purple heart. He was a member of the Vinton Baptist Church and was an active member of the Vinton V.F.W. Post #4522. Mr. Carter was predeceased by his wife Sylvia Lawhorn Carter, and a son, Warren D. Carter. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, James M. and Shirley L. Carter, of Salem; and a granddaughter, Cynthia Carter, of Roanoke County. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Tuesday, April 4, 1995 from the Vinton Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. William L. Ross officiating. Burial to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 12 noon Monday, at Lotz Vinton Chapel.

CLARK, Frances Katherine Wells, 89, of Blackstone, formerly of Beuna Vista, died Tuesday, March 30, 1995. She was the widow of Howard Travis Clark and also preceded in death by a son, Howard Travis Clark Jr. She is survived by two grandchildren, Capt. Howard Travis Clark, III, of Dover, Del., and Mrs. Sally Clark Daughtrey, of London, England; and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Alise Wells Stoner, of Richmond. Graveside funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 1995 in Lakeview Cemetery. Mrs. Clark was a graduate of the Blackstone College for Girls and a retired school teacher. CLEMONS, Curtis Lee, 62, of Peterstown, W.Va., died Sunday, April 2, 1995, at his home. Born April 14, 1932 at Glen Lyn, he is the son of Ella Jane Perdue Clemons of Rich Creek and the late Ned Clemons. Mr. Clemons was a former employee of the New River Tannery at Pearisburg and Clines Well Drilling. He was a Korean Conflict U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Disabled American V eterans, and the N.R.A. Mr. Clemons was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Buddy Clemons. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Virginia C. ``Chris"" Clemons; four daughters, Mrs. A.C. (Connie) Hedrick of Blacksburg, Mrs. Adam (Tommie) Billings and Mrs. Benny (Tammy) Skelton, both of Peterstown, W.Va., and Teresa Jane Clemons of Rocky Mount, N.C.; two sons, Curtis Allen Clemons of Rocky Mount, N.C. and Timothy Clemons of North Carolina; two brothers, Claude Clemons of Baltimore, Md., and Jackie Clemons of Rich Creek; five sisters, Thelma Sudduth of Bluefield, W.Va., Vada Cline of Peterstown, W.Va., Charlotte Scott of San Antonio, Texas, Jeanette Thornton of Narrows, and Darlene Gautier of Rich Creek; five grandchildren, Misty and James Hedrick, Adam Billings, Cortney and Whitney Skelton. HAGA, Dean Jessie, 73, of Marion, passed away Saturday, April 1, 1995 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was born in Grayson County on January 3, 1922. He was a member of the Marion Baptist Church. He was also an employee of Burlington Industries for 30 years and retired from the Commonwealth of Virginia Southwest Virginia Mental Health Institute. He proudly served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1938-1940. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Virgil and Clyde Gamble Haga. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Helen Henderson Haga, of Marion; two daughters, Ella Sue Haga Routh, of Tiburon, Calif., and Carolyn Haga Church, of Quinton; son-in-law, Harvey Dallas Church, of Quinton; four grandchildren, Lisa Rhea Reedy, of Glade Spring, Robin Michelle Margonie, of Marietta, Ga., Angela Church Edwards and husband, Joseph McKinley Edwards, of Richmond , and Russell Dallas Church and wife, Lorrie Dean Church, of Alexandria; one sister, Nina Gullion, of Lithonia, Ga.; five brothers, William Haga, of Rockville, Md., Carl Haga, of Whitetop, Mack Haga, of Lansing, N.C.; Telsie Haga, of Bedford, and Buddy Haga, of Marion; two sisters-in-law, Della Haga, of Marion, and Yvonne Haga, of Chilhowie; and numerous nieces and nephews. HAMPTON, Ruth Correll, 83, of Roanoke, died Saturday, April 1, 1995. Mrs. Hampton was a Decon and Sunday School Teacher at Forest Park Baptist Church. She was the widow of William (Pete) Hampton and is survived by a son, William M. Hampton; a daughter, Jean H. Evans; a brother, Alvis Correll; a sister, Gay Jenkins, all of Roanoke; 11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Lotz Roanoke Chapel, 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 1995 with Rev. Frank W. Feather officiating. Interment in Sherwood Memorial Park. LAMBERT, James L., (""Bud""), 73, of Vinton, passed away at his home Saturday, April 1, 1995. James grew up in Atkins, Va. He was a veteran of WWII. having served in the European and pacific theatres. He was a member of Northview United Methodist Church. He was retired from Railway Express Agency during which time he served as Secretary-Treasurer of Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks, Magic City Lodge #2081. After retirement he was Driver-Owner of Airborne Express. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Burkett Lambert; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Gary Breining, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and Beth and Chuck Farr, of Colstrip, Mo.; two grandchildren, Andrea Elena Farr and Duane Lambert Farr; two sisters, Bess L. Anderson, of Rural Retreat, and Helen L. Williams, of Elizabethton, Tenn. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel and Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Seaver-Brown Funeral Home, Marion. LAWSON, Arnold L., (``Buck""), 84, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, April 1, 1995 in a Salem nursing home. He was a retired employee of RAAP and was preceded in death by his wife, Kate Garnand Lawson. Surviving are his children, Verlon L. and Carl Leonard, Fredona L. Jones, all of Roanoke, Hersel L. and Joyce S. Lawson, Christiansburg, Jerry and Carolyn Lawson, Montvale, Gale and Ray Friddle, Danville, Dorita L. LENT, Elmer M. Sr., 86, of Vinton, formerly of Richmond, died Sunday, April 2, 1995 at the home of his son, Elmer M. Lent Jr., of Vinton. He is also survived by one daughter, Betty L. Smith, of Palm Bay, Fla.; a brother, Lewis M. Lent, of Goochland; sister, Mary L. Nolan, of Richmond; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Remains will rest at the Joseph W. OLIVER, Nelson Pharr, 79, of Pearisburg, died Saturday, April 1, 1995. Mr. Oliver was a retired employee of Hoechst-Celanese Corp. He was a member of the Pearisburg First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and was a member of the Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Little Meadows Hunt Club, a member of Giles Masonic Lodge #106 and a member of Pearis Lodge #124 Order of the Eastern Star. He was born in Craig County on March 13, 1916 and was a son of the late Minor P. Oliver and Ethel Hypes Oliver. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Robertson Oliver of Pearisburg; two sons, James W. (Jimmy) Oliver of Carrollton, Richard Pharr Oliver of Topeka, Kan.; one sister, Lois Crabtree of Ceres; three grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Givens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Kearns officiating. PHILLIPS, Ricky Coolidge, 37, of Roanoke, died Sunday, April 2, 1995 at his residence. He was born in Martinsville on May 11, 1957, a son of Vernon C. Phillips and Virginia Fields Phillips. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Mike Phillips, Bassett, Tim Phillips, Roanoke; one sister, Joyce Phillips, Bassett; and one niece Kelly Phillips, Bassett. QUESENBERRY, Rev. Charley Glynn, 81, of Bluefield died Saturday, April 1, 1995 in a Bluefield hospital. He was born in Carroll County, Va. and was a son of the late Charles and Della Dove Quesenberry. He was a retired United Methodist minister and served many churches in the Holston Conference in Southern Virginia and West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Holbrook Quesenberry, and by brother, Conrad Quesenberry, and one sister. Survivors include sons, Ronald Quesenberry, of Hillsville, and Charles K. Quesenberry, of Mingo Junction, Ohio; daughters, Vickie Shelley, of Atlanta, Ga., and Wanda Quesenberry, of Orange Park, Fla.; sisters, Lola Campbell, of Wytheville, and Zella Marshall, of South Carolina; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 1995, at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va., with the Rev. Walt Shewbridge officiating. SUMNER, Flora Linkenhoker, 79, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, April 1, 1995 at Radford Community Hospital. The daughter of the late Myrtle Payne and George Adam Linkenhoker, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Linkenhoker and one sister, Ruby L. Maxey. Mrs. Sumner was a long time member of the Park United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Archie W. Sumner; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley G. and William G. McGee, Huntersville, N.C., Norma G. and Edward T. Lawson, Christiansburg, Doloris G. and James C. Drmas, Southern Shores, N.C.; two sisters, Beatrice Matney, Christiansburg, Mable Freeman, Alex andria; a stepson and a stepdaughter-in-law, Thelma S. and Jerry Cupp, all of Christiansburg; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild. WEAVER, Glenn L., 70, of Richmond and Fredericksburg, died Saturday, April 1, 1995 at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Sullivan Weaver; a son, Larry G. Weaver; and a daughter, Tracy L. Chenault, both of Richmond; a brother, Howard Weaver; and two sisters, Peggy Perdue and Dorothy Guthrie all of Roanoke. Mr. Weaver was retired Director of the Division of State Labor Law Administration for the Department of Labor and Industry. He had been a private pilot for 50 years and was a member of the Silver Wings Fraternity and a Mason. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mullins & Thompson Fredericksburg Chapel with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his wife, Annabelle Poff Yearout; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Sue Yearout, of Moneta, Kenneth and Kathy Yearout, of Roanoke, Richard and Sarah Yearout, of Hardy, and Ronald and Brenda Yearout, of Vinton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Walter Short, of Catawba, and Carolyn and Roger Jr. Horsley, of Vancouver, WA.; two sisters, Elsie Spangler, of Floyd, and Celesta Yearout, of Floyd; two brothers, A.T.
