That's because the senior Democrat from Shawsville expects legislative business at the General Assembly's veto session to take longer than the one day that's scheduled. The announcement had been scheduled for Friday.
The veto session begins Wednesday. Marye headed to Richmond on Monday to prepare for a Senate Finance Committee meeting scheduled for today.
Marye represents the 39th District, which includes Montgomery, Grayson, Smyth and parts of Pulaski and Carroll counties. He has said for months that he would wait until after the session to announce whether he will seek another four-year term, or, at age 69, retire after serving in the Senate since 1973.
Pat Cupp of Blacksburg and Gary Weddle of Radford are seeking the Republican nomination to run for the 39th District seat.
