Cleaning up dumps
CHRISTIANSBURG - Organizers of this year's Broomin' & Bloomin' cleanup campaign are targeting 15 to 20 illegal dumps.
To successfully eradicate these eyesores, organizers need your help Saturday, April 22.
Last year, volunteers cleaned up 21 illegal dumps, filled with appliances, tires and trash, in just four hours. They also cleaned 170 miles of roadside, and six miles of stream and river bank.
Participants will get a T-shirt, a picnic and live music. Groups and individuals are invited. For more information, call 382-5793.
