HOTEL SERVES COUPLE

A couple who joked that they might eat in the Hotel Roanoke lobby Monday night got to celebrate their wedding anniversary in the famed Regency Room after all.

John and Betty Urquhart arrived for the hotel's grand opening believing that a mix-up with their reservations had left them unable to eat dinner in the dining room.

But after they checked in and explained, the dining room manager found them a place for dinner, Betty Urquhart said Tuesday.

"They were so nice. And dinner was wonderful," she said.

The night in the hotel was a 48th wedding anniversary gift from their children.
