Corning Inc., the Corning, N.Y., parent of a Christiansburg plant that makes ceramic parts for catalytic converters, reported earnings of $79.4 million, or 35 cents per share, on revenue of $1.12 billion for its first quarter ended March 26, compared with year-earlier $58 million, or 28 cents per share, on sales of $948.9 million.
Hillenbrand
Hillenbrand Industries, Batesville, Ind., owner of Medeco Security Locks Inc. and an electronics division at Salem, reported net income of $27.5 million, or 39 cents per share, on revenue of $396.3 million for its first quarter ended March 4, compared with year-earlier $37.7 million, or 53 cents per share, on revenues of $377.4 million.
