A limited air-fare discount could mean savings for some passengers, Roanoke Regional Airport's operators said Tuesday. The nation's major airlines have announced discounts of 20 percent to 50 percent on limited flights, targeting the leisure travel market. The discount is limited to 21-day advance tickets and must be purchased by April 10. The tickets are nonrefundable, and the travel must take place on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Sunday.
The discount is unusual, said Mark Courtney, director of planning and marketing development at the Roanoke airport, because it is occurring at a time when the major airlines normally increase their fares.
