REPORTED EARNINGS

Flowers Industries Inc., a Thomasville, Ga., baker with retail and distribution facilities in Roanoke, reported net income of $9.1 million, or 24 cents per share, on sales of $256.6 million for its third quarter ended March 11, compared with year-earlier $7.4 million, or 20 cents per share, on sales of $221.7 million. For the nine months, net income was $25.9 million, or 69 cents per share, on sales of $760.0 million, compared with year-earlier $20.2 million, or 55 cents per share, on sales of $673.3 million.

Shoney's

Shoney's Inc., Nashville, Tenn., restaurant chain with operations in Western Virginia, reported earnings of $10.7 million, or 26 cents per share, on revenue of $293.2 million in its first quarter ended Feb. 19, compared with year-earlier $18.7 million, or 45 cents per share, on revenue of $297.2 million.
