Session canceled

CHRISTIANSBURG - An executive session of the Montgomery County School Board scheduled for Tuesday has been canceled.

Board members had planned to discuss a personnel issue at the closed-door meeting. It will not be rescheduled.

RU registration

RADFORD - Radford University students can now register for classes by phone.

Continuing students can register by calling 831-6550 from a touch-tone phone and then following voice prompts.

Students will be assigned times to call the system's 15 phones, which are open 8 a.m.-9 p.m. six days a week. A help line is also available.

Program reviews

PULASKI - The Virginia Department of Education will review federal programs in Pulaski County schools such as special education, vocational education, school nutrition and adult education during the week of April 24 to make sure they comply with state and federal regulations.

Anyone who would like to provide information should contact Associate Superintendent Phyllis Bishop at the School Board office at 44 Third St. (telephone 994-1404).

Citizens can also comment on how well they think county schools are meeting state and federal regulations at a meeting at the School Board office from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 25.

NRCC registration

DUBLIN - Continuous registration for New River Community College's summer term begins Monday, April 17.

Three academic sessions are scheduled. Session T will run from May 22 to July 31. Session D is set from May 22 to June 23 and Session E will run from June 26 to July 31.

Registration can be done either at the Dublin Campus or at the college's Christiansburg site at 412 Roanoke St.

Institute alumni

PULASKI - The Christiansburg Institute Alumni Association will meet Sunday, April 9, at the T.J. Howard Community Center in Pulaski at 5 p.m.

All former students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend and help plan the 1995 grand reunion.

Also, the Project Christiansburg Institute Advisory Board will meet Monday, April 10, at 6 p.m. in Hillcrest Hall at Virginia Tech.

AAUW book sale

BLACKSBURG - The Blacksburg-area branch of the American Association of University Women holds its annual used book sale Thursday through Saturday, April 20-22, at the former Sidney's location, Gables Shopping Center.

Sale hours Thursday and Friday are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Book donations will be accepted at the sale location Saturday, April 8, and Saturday, April 15, 10 a.m.-noon.

A wide variety of old, new, hardback and paperback books will be available.

The book sale is the major fund-raising event for the Blacksburg-area branch. A portion of the proceeds support the AAUW Educational Foundation providing scholarships to women.
